1955. Ten years since the end of World War Two and Britain was still in the depths of austerity with much of war-time rationing still in place. Anxiety was growing over the escalating Cold War as Britain formed her first Atomic Bomb Unit – 138 Squadron flying out of Gaydon in Warwickshire. On a much lighter note, television rentals were growing in popularity though the wireless was still more common.

The English Subbuteo Association is pleased to announce a new strategic affiliation with games and puzzles specialist University Games. The English Subbuteo Association has already achieved record registrations this year with a significant amount of interest showing in the game of Subbuteo during lockdown. The affiliation with University Games formulates the foundation for supporting the continued growth within the voluntary and commercial world of both organisations.

The ESA are pleased to announce the appointment of Simon Goodman as General Secretary. Simon has a wealth of knowledge, experience and passion for the game and is someone who adds a new dimension to our voluntary organisation.
The ESA are delighted to announce that Mike Parnaby has rejoined the board as a Consultant. Mike started his interest in the game at the ripe old age of 13 in 1976. In 1978 Mike formed Stokesley SC '78, and this club has continued since but under different names, currently NETFA Brigantes.
